Krochet Kids intl.

Krochet Kids is a fashion brand whose every product is hand-signed by the person who made it. They employ over 150 people in Uganda and Peru through the creation on their products, seeking to empower women to rise out of poverty. I bought a striped tee from them made by Julia Gonzalez in Peru - I wrote to her afterwards saying thanks.

"Every dollar you spend is like signing a voting slip."

Whether I'm buying a chocolate bar, a pair of jeans or car insurance, I'm choosing to give my money into a functioning business, keeping it afloat in some way. This world is full of innovative businesses that are striving to use their profits responsibly and for the greater good. Wouldn't it be valuable to use our money to vote for companies like that?

Krochet Kids Intl. are an American company who ship worldwide. Check them out here.

WHY BOTHER?

The garment industry has long functioned with low accountability, dependant on consumers who don't ask questions. I've started to filter who I buy clothes from according to how transparent their website is. Companies like Krochet Kids have nothing to hide so you can find out all about their production line and business practices on their website. Other (ahem, huge) companies aren't so honest about their dealings online. I want to support those who are trading and creating products honestly, not just with verbal support but through buying their products too.
